I often learn a result, work through a derivation, or follow a line of thought and feel that I will remember it. Often I do not. I think of this collection as my version of Dumbledore’s Pensieve: a place to put ideas so I can retrieve them later.
Purpose
Each entry preserves whatever seems worth retrieving: a mathematical argument, an economic intuition, a question, a method, or a developing line of thought. There is no target length or fixed form. Some entries may settle one small question; others may grow into long explorations.
What Belongs Here
The collection will mainly cover mathematics, economics, and empirical or computational methods. A typical note might contain:
- a result stated in plain language;
- the assumptions that make it true;
- a compact derivation or proof;
- an example or counterexample;
- an unfinished thought or question worth returning to;
- and links to the sources from which I learned it.
The subject determines the length. A compact observation may need only a few paragraphs, while a difficult idea may require a substantial essay, derivation, or collection of examples.
Status of the Notes
These are public working notes, not publications. I may revise them when I relearn a topic, discover a mistake, or find a clearer explanation. Where accuracy depends on a source, the entry should identify it; where an explanation is my own synthesis, it should say so. Some entries were written and edited in part with OpenAI Codex.
